Named after the 26th U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt, the Roosevelt Hotel Seattle was built in 1929 and designed in a distinct, modern Art Deco style by John Graham Sr., one of Seattle’s most prominent architects. Following World War I, Seattle experienced a skyscraper building boom. Taking inspiration from the New York City’s skyscrapers that had come to symbolize growth and advancements in industry and technology, the Roosevelt Hotel Seattle was from its debut – and is still today – an iconic presence in the ever-evolving Seattle skyline.
